This Privacy Policy explains how Wooster Prep collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use woosterprep.com and our SAT diagnostic and study services.
Important for students under 18: Wooster Prep is intended for use by high-school students with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts.
1. Who We Are
Wooster Prep operates an online SAT preparation platform at woosterprep.com. For questions about this policy or your data, contact hal@woosterprep.com.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us may include your name, email address, school, grade level, target SAT score, account credentials, parent or guardian consent information where applicable, and support messages.
Information generated as you use the service may include diagnostic answers and scores, mastery-test attempts and scores, full-length practice-test results, concept rankings, projected score-uplift estimates, study activity, feature usage, and timestamps.
Information collected automatically may include IP address, browser type, device identifiers, access times, cookies, and similar usage or security data.
When paid checkout is enabled, payment details are handled by third-party payment processors. Wooster Prep does not store card or bank details on its servers. We may receive limited transaction information such as amount, currency, billing country, payment status, and transaction reference.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to create and operate accounts, deliver the diagnostic, generate personalized reports, rank concepts, provide study content, mastery tests, flashcards, concept review decks, and practice exams.
We also use information to process payments where applicable, send verification codes, receipts, account notices and study notifications, maintain security, prevent fraud and scraping, analyze and improve the service, and comply with law.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use strictly necessary cookies for authentication and security, functional cookies for preferences, and analytics cookies to understand usage and improve the product. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though blocking necessary cookies may affect functionality.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may share information with service providers that help us operate the platform, including hosting, database, authentication, email, payments, content delivery, security, analytics, background jobs, error monitoring, and support providers. These providers are engaged to process information for our service operations.
We may also share information to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our Terms, protect safety and rights, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets subject to this policy.
6. Children’s Privacy
Wooster Prep is intended for high-school students with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create accounts or use the service.
Students aged 13 to 17 may use Wooster Prep only with parent or guardian consent and involvement. Parents and guardians may contact us to review, request deletion of, or refuse further collection of their child’s information.
Wooster Prep is a direct-to-consumer product for students and families. We collect school name only as a profile field and do not knowingly create or maintain school education records on behalf of a school district.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection to certain processing. You may also have the right to opt out of sale or sharing; Wooster Prep does not sell or share personal information as those terms are commonly defined under US state privacy laws.
To exercise a privacy right, contact hal@woosterprep.com. We may need to verify your request before responding.
8. Data Retention
We retain account, diagnostic, performance, and usage data for the period needed to provide the service and for a reasonable period afterward. We retain payment, tax, and legal records as required by law. When data is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it unless legal retention obligations apply.
9. How We Protect Information
Passwords are hashed and are not stored in plain text. Payment card data is handled by payment processors and does not pass through Wooster Prep servers.
We use reasonable safeguards such as encryption in transit, access controls, signed or expiring asset URLs where appropriate, rate limiting, bot protection, restricted administrative access, and audit logging. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Data Transfers
We may process information in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
11. Your Choices
You may opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails or by contacting us. Transactional emails such as receipts, verification codes, security notices, and account messages are necessary to provide the service.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. You may request access, correction, or deletion by contacting hal@woosterprep.com.
12. Do Not Track
Wooster Prep does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals because no common standard has been adopted.
13. Third-Party Links
The service may link to third-party sites, including official testing resources. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and you should review their policies separately.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, where required, provide additional notice. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
